If puzzles are your thing then step into the world of Louis ‘the giant’ and then explore the surrounding bush, giant kauris and waterfall walk Just a short drive off State Highway 12 at Waimamaku you will find The Labyrinth and Louis with his crafts, puzzles, maze and peacocks!
Children (and grown ups still full of curiosity and with an enquiring mind) will find spending time here a compelling place to be. From Louis’ museum of several hundred Rubix cubes to his tantalising Yot puzzle, there is something for everyone and for all ages.
You will probably find that you will definitely loose yourself in all the amazing puzzles and be thoroughly entertained, BUT don’t expect Louis to give away too many answers … that would be far too easy! There is also a variety of great quality affordable Arts and Crafts including woodturning, carvings, wood engravings and cards by local artist Allan Gale, boards, candles, kete, tiles, polished kauri gum and kaleidoscopes.
Explore the maze (open from mid-December to April) and perhaps have a picnic on the grass or at one of the picnic tables.
Nearby there is a wonderful walk to the Waiotemarama Waterfalls which is about 30 minutes there and back or take the Loop Walk to the falls through stands of giant 1000 year old kauri trees at around two hours return trip.
